Right. So. Here's the problem with waking up somewhere strange. Charlie, for one, isn't a fan. Yes, this is her first foray into the wild and vast multiverse. No, this isn't the first time she's ever been kidnapped (and she's considering it a kidnapping, there's no getting around it, not with the way she thinks).
But after receiving her information packet and finding her keys in her pocket, and after asking someone how the Fluxphone worked, Charlie was less sure this was a kidnapping and started wondering if maybe she'd died.
If she did, a beautiful beach with a beautiful beach house wasn't what she was expecting.
She was expecting fire and maybe some big red guy listing off all her sins.
And that box...it held things she hadn't seen in years. Photos of her family, a teddy bear from her childhood.
That had been a bit much so, after getting changed into a t-shirt and shorts and a comfortable pair of dark red Converse sneakers, she decides to explore.

Okay, so after several hours of exploring, she was on the beach. The sun was setting and she still hadn't figured this place out. It was very real, so very real, and that was the part she couldn't wrap her head around. For the moment.
It was while she was in line at the Seafood shack, debating between a half-bucket of crabs or a couple soft-shell crab sandwiches when she sees it. Just beyond the pier. Sunning themselves on an outcropping of rocks.
Excuse the fuck out of her, but she's gently poking the arm of the person standing closest to her and pointing them out.
"Are...do you see that? Those aren't mermaids, are they?" Yes, yes they are. Beachville has mermaids. Shell bras and hair decorated with shells and seaweed and all. And they'll wave when whoever she poked looks over.
