Allison couldn't explain the way she felt when he focused the smile on her, stunning her for a second as she tried to remember the last time she had seen someone smile like that. There had been so much fighting, so much to worry about, that the stolen minutes of happiness or fun had almost felt rare.

She wasn't sure what to make of it but she made herself smile a little as she nodded, fixing him with a curious look while the smile remained.
