Upon Arrival
- You know how it goes. One minute you're minding your own business. Maybe you're in your own universe, maybe you're in another one entirely. Whichever the case, you blink and suddenly you find yourself in front of a small, wooden information booth, without so much as a warning. The weather is lovely, the environment peaceful, until someone clears their throat nearby to get your attention. It's coming from the booth. Inside the booth sits an older gentleman, old enough to be your grandfather, and he's smiling warmly at you.
"Welcome," he says, giving you a grin and a small nod. He means no harm and regards you with some curiosity before reaching towards a stack of very plain looking pamphlets in front of him.
"It'd be in your best interest," he states, going through the pamphlets before pulling one up, turning to reach into a filing cabinet for an envelope clearly stuffed with something. "It'd be in your best interest to take these. And to check your pockets," he states. The envelope is filled with money, paper bills that seem to shift colors in the light, and the pamphlet welcomes you to the current settings of this pocket dimension and tells you that while lodging is free, entertainment, food and other necessities are not so it's probably best that you find a job.
Inside your pockets are a set of keys and a map to a house. The house is yours. You'll even find a chest in your bedroom, containing six items from home, some of which you're sure shouldn't even fit in there.
Welcome to Town.

Just ask anyone, Beachville is the most beautiful city anywhere! That's exactly what the NPCs will tell you with a genuine smile on their faces and a happy nod. It even just might be true. For a beach as crowded as it is, it's surprisingly clean! The sand is just right. Not too hot and soft to the touch. The water is so blue you can see marine life swimming just under the surface. A variety of multicolored fish. Dolphins. The occasional mermaid. ...yes, that was in fact a mermaid! They're playful, don't worry. They won't try to drown you, Maybe just knock you off your surfboard with a laugh and a flash of a shimmery tail as they swim off to who knows where. There are still sharks in that very blue, very clear water, but they're not interested in you in the slightest. In fact, they seem very keen on avoiding you. There's so much to do here in Beachville! There's fishing off the docks, well away from where people are swimming. There's a boardwalk with almost every shop imaginable. A tattoo artist, a piercing parlor, a place to buy silly souvenirs like hermit crabs in cages, or ridiculous shirts. There's so much food to be tried; Pizzas, Salt Water Taffy's, lemonades of various flavors and some of the best burgers and fries you've ever had! If the day-life isn't for you, wait until dark. The amusement park (which opens at sunrise and runs until 2 AM), lights up the night in a fantastic and colorful display, the sounds of the roller coasters and laughing guests heard for miles around, and part of the docks turns into an open air nightclub, complete with dance floor, beverages for all and alcohol for anyone over eighteen. Don't try to trick the bartender. They'll know. If the hustle and bustle and noise of the beach isn't for you, don't worry. There are many resorts nearby with their own private swimming pools and entertainment. There are coffee shops on almost every street, various boutiques and curios to look at and a movie theater or two. Don't worry; you'll also find the more necessary stores like grocery stores (where there is something for almost everyone), pharmacies, book stores, clothing stores, hardware stores. There's even a police station, fire house and hospital. But that's not what Beachville is about! Everyone needs a vacation, right? |
Beachville Locations
(Feel Free to use our locations to spark ideas for prompts! Check out other fun locations Here!)
![]() | Beachville Boardwalk and Amusements Just what it says on the tin. Every possible Boardwalk location you can think of is here. Tattoo parlors, really cheesy t-shirts and hideous beach attire, awesome food of highly dubious nutritious value. There are also rides, like a huge ferris wheel, bumper cars, spinning rides and a huge roller coaster. At night, part of the boardwalk closes and turns into a place for dancing, drinking (For anyone over eighteen) and watching fireworks every weekend until 2 AM. |
![]() | The Surf Board There are three of these places located along the beach, and each one seems to be run by surfers in 'business attire'. Of course, by business attire, we mean these shirts and khaki shorts. They're here for all your surfing needs whether it be board rentals, lessons or even board purchases and care products. Dude. |
![]() | Shellfish Shack A small, outdoor restaurant right beside the fishing docks that can happily boast the freshest, most inexpensive seafood. There are crabs, lobsters, shellfish of many edible varieties and other seafood, besides. They also sell fresh catches by the pound that you can cook yourself at home, so go ahead and buy some! And be sure to buy some of their fresh made lemonade by the gallon. It's known all over Beachville as the best. |
![]() | Beach Breeze The Perfect place outdoors to grab a smoothie or any kind of fruit juice. They also serve the best shaved ice you've ever had in your life. What a great way to beat the heat! |
Evie Grimhilde - Descendants Series with Voidtreck CR - OTA
Evie was fairly accustomed to showing up in strange places by this point, but this place had the princess just a tiny bit confused. She was sure they'd already done a mission on the beach. Hadn't they?
But the train was gone, as was everyone she knew from it, and that man Jerry seemed to know nothing about the Voidtrain when she asked him. So she took her packet of information and thanked him for his help, getting a smile and a "good luck, kid" from the old man before he turned to help someone else.
Examining the packet, she counted the money and read over the brochure. She dug a hand into the dress she'd been wearing before she even found herself on that train from before and pulled out a set of keys. The house she found had her gasping in disbelief. It was her starter castle from home, and she was ever so glad to see it. Of course, half of what she owned from home was gone. Her sewing room was empty, and her journals and sketch pads were gone, too. But her bed was there. Some of her clothes were in the closets and the pantries and kitchen were full.
"Well," Evie says to no one in particular. "It's a start."
At least she was done with that stupid train.
[ Amusement Park After Dark: ]
Of course she's going to be at the Amusement Park. Someone mentioned dancing and music. She missed both. So she's there, listening to some amazing songs and dancing with people she'd befriended.
Eventually, she sits down with something to eat and a drink, watching the crowd with her chin on her hands, smiling and feeling probably more relaxed than she had in a while.
This was what she needed. Thank the Fairy Godmother for places like Beachville.
[ Shell Shack: ]
She was here for seafood. Not the precooked stuff they had to offer, though she absolutely did get her a half-bucket of fully cooked spicy crabs and prawns. That was going to be her dinner tonight. But the place also offered fresh catches, so she was here to buy some.
Noticing someone else mulling over the choices for fresh seafood, she heads over with a smile.
"Hi. Sorry to bother you. If you're looking for something really good, get yourself some of the sea bass. Oh. And the mussels, too. They clean them here so it's not something you have to worry too much about when you get home."
[Network: ]
[ It's a couple days later and Evie has settled in. She's sitting in the living room of her house and she figures it's time to reach out and talk to the people in Beachville. So the princess with the bright smile and the vibrant, blue hair introduces herself. ]
Hello! My name is Evie Grimhilde. I've been here three days and I already love it. I had a question for people here. If I mentioned something called the Voidtrain, would anyone recognize it? Before I was here, I was on a train traveling through the void. We stopped on different worlds and helped people however we could. To be honest, I thought this was another of our stops, but the man at the information booth...Jerry, I think it was...he had no clue what I was talking about, and I've yet to see a train station. So, I'm hopeful.
[ She didn't much care for the train in the end, losing too many people over and over. There's a shrug from her and her smile returns, a half-smile that still manages to look warm and friendly. ]
Just thought I'd ask. Thank you for your time.
Network
HELLO! MY NAME IS Fuck You
The feed shifts, and the broad chest said nametag is attached to is replaced by a face both boyish and aggressively rugged with its heavy, dark beard clashing with a shock of honey blonde hair. His expression is one of modulated calm, and his voice is much the same: composed yet expressive, pleasant and friendly.]
Voidtrain? Hey, didn't they make a movie about that where Christopher Nolan did Captain America as a literal Winter Soldier during the apocalypse?
'Cause...let's be real: even with all the snow, you're far too colorful for Nolan. He doesn't do high saturation. Someone might forget to brood damagedly if it got too bright.
Re: Network
Not that she's focused too much on the name-tag. It's the rest of what he says that has her confused. Sadly, Snowpiercer isn't a movie in her world. So all of what he's said is a little bit lost on her. ]
I'm sorry. You've lost me.
[ Though, the comment about being colorful does get a small smile from Evie. ]
I don't think a movie like that exists in my universe.
[ Does Beachville have a movie rental business? Because if it does, she's going to have to look for this movie once she gets the name of it. ]
Re: Network
Casablanca. A Few Good Men. Flash Gordon. UHF. Slime That Ate Cleveland. Y'know. The classics.
[He winks at her with the tiniest uptick of one corner of his mouth.
Mostly because she's little, cute, wholesome, and an easy fucking mark in the sweetest and most innocent way possible, and...well, he just wants to sort of stand next to that for a minute.
He hasn't had access to anything like that in years. Even Zoe wasn't immune: she learned about death and vampires early on for her own protection.]
Re: Network
[ After scrolling through the map on her phone, she has in fact found a place to rent movies. And her castle does have her Blu-ray/DVD player. So she might have herself a movie night. It even took her a hot second or two to find the name of the movie he talked about.
So, not only is she cute, but she's smart. It wasn't hard to find what she wanted, based on the small bit of info she got from the guy. ]
Snowpiercer, was it? Thank you for that.
[ Pushing her blue hair out of her big, dark eyes, she tilts her head a bit and watches the guy with some curiosity. ]
So, that can't actually be your name, can it?
Re: Network
Nice. Very nice.
She gets a blank look about his name, though...oh! He never took that off his shirt, huh?
Glancing down, he peels off the name tag, shrugging.]
It could be my name, but then me and Mom would need to have words. Uglier than the boy named Sue, I'll tell you that much. No, uh--my name is King. Hannibal King, but...y'know. King's a way cooler name than Hannibal, so.
Re: Network
[ Have the most charming grin in the universe. She shifts on the couch she's seated on, tucking her legs under herself as she gets settled. Wherever she is, she's familiar with it already and seems relatively relaxed. ]
I'd have to fight my mom if [ She can't bring herself to say those particular words just yet. Wait until she gets mad enough. Then...possibly. ]
that were my name, too. But it's just Evie. So, that's not awful.
Re: Network
[It's a wisecrack, of course. Because no one is this charming and sweet and tastefully offended by cursing, so...Snow White.
He's already decided that's her new nickname. That, or Princess Peach, but...the hair, so. Princess Toadstool, maybe?...]
Re: Network
She's my step-sister.
[ She said that far too seriously for it to be bullshit. ]
My mother married her father. And then tried to kill her out of jealousy. I was born on a prison island because of that.
Network
[ The brunette offers a small curious smile. ]
Re: Network
I don't think it's something we have to worry about. If it's long gone, then I'm okay with that.
no subject
[ Because she isn't really sure she wants to deal with anything else to be concerned about at the moment. ]
no subject
Lovely girl with the pretty eyes, are you okay?
no subject
[ She clenches her jaw, hating the fact that she is showing any kind of weakness. ]
I'll be fine. I'm just...this is a lot.
Network
Is this voidtrain like a spirit train? With ghosts and things? Because I think one of those came here, or not here, but where I was in France! I didn't go though, like on the mission, because of reasons, but like, people stopped it, the train, that one time.
[Toki wonders for a second if that even makes sense, but oh well. It's a train.]
Re: Network
It's not a spirit train, no. It's a train that travels through the Void. We'd stop on different planets that needed help and do what we could to save people.
Are you from France or were you just there visiting? Also, I can see your ceiling but not you.
no subject
[It sounds ominous, but when she mentions other planets, he thinks he knows what it is.]
Is it- wait...
[Toki grabs the phone, and holds it out in front of him, then gives her a wave.]
I like your hair! Anyway, where was I? Yes!
[He snaps his fingers when he remembers, but drops the phone and has to retrieve it before he can continue.]
Okay, so... The Void takes you to other planets? I've been through a portal to the Outlands, which is like, a different dimension than Earth, but also like a different planet maybe. Have you been to one called Samura? There's purple sand!
[Um, what else did she ask?]
France! Yes, I'm from France. Well, like, I was born in Japan, but I was living in France.
Amusement Park (warning, not sure if I am apping her)
She was snacking on some candy as she walked, seeming not to have noticed Evie yet. "When I get my hands on him..." she was muttering darkly.
Re: Amusement Park (warning, not sure if I am apping her)
So it doesn't take long for Evie to recognize Mal. Hardly a second. It's the muttering that has her concerned, and she's wondering if this Mal is from either a different dimension altogether, or from earlier in her own timeline.
"Mal, are you alright?" Never mind the fact that Evie's just spent several months on a train traveling the void. Her first concern isn't the fact that she hasn't seen Mal in that time. It's that Mal is upset.
Re: Amusement Park (warning, not sure if I am apping her)
Something broke and Mal all but launched herself at her best friend, hugging her tightly. She loved Lydia, she did. But she was honest when she told Lydia she already had a best friend. And for the first time in almost a year, she was able to touch her best friend. Hug her. Talk to her. Tell her everything. Evie was the one person she would consider telling everything to. Carlos and Jay as a close second, then Lydia. And that was about it. Even Sylvando and Micheal only got to see some. And she already regretted being at all nice to MT.
"Evie..." she whispered. "You're really here." Then she stepped back. "Why are you here? Is Doug here? Why would you leave Auradon? You love it there!" she protested.
Evies4hearts
"It's pretty good, I guess..." He finally says, looking off to the side. "But does it have a library?" Because that's honestly the most important question. If he has to stay here then he needs to have a steady stream of mysteries coming in to read.
Re: Evies4hearts
"What kind of books do you like? We'll go to the book store tomorrow and stock up."
